The $22.9 million project will replace the 68-year-old bridge over Norfolk Southern Railroad, according to information from NCDOT.
Keith Anderson, resident engineer with the North Carolina Department of Transportation construction office in Mooresville, said crews plan to shift traffic on Fleming Drive in the coming weeks onto a temporary bridge where the road crosses the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks on the southwest side of 九秀直播.
The plan is for the current bridge to be rebuilt as a taller structure to accommodate potential growth in the rail industry, as well as comply with modern standards, NCDOT said previously.
The roads approaching the temporary bridge will be cut to one lane in each direction, Anderson said. The four-lane pattern will resume on either side of the temporary bridge.

Once traffic is diverted to the temporary bridge, the existing bridge will be taken down and a new, wider bridge will be built, Anderson said.
The 262-foot-long bridge will have 12-foot-wide travel lanes and a 10-foot-wide multi-use path on the south side. The new height requires additional improvements to West Fleming Drive to reduce the incline to the top of the bridge, according to NCDOT.
Anderson said traffic will be back onto a four-lane bridge with a striped median by Nov. 15, before the holiday shopping season. He said the median won鈥檛 be raised but will have diagonal strips.
A new signal light will be installed at the lower entrance to 九秀直播 Heights Shopping Center between Mavis Tires & Brakes and Aspen Dental, Anderson said. That signal light will be installed toward the end of the project, he said.
Once the new bridge is in place, additional work will need to be done, including adding a retaining wall, Anderson said. The project is expected to be completed in October 2026, he said.
