The Patton girls basketball team earned its third win of the season with a nonconference victory over visiting West Caldwell on Thursday evening in ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥, 31-16.
For the Lady Panthers, it salvaged a season split with the Lady Warriors after PHS lost 36-17 to open the season in Gamewell on Nov. 15.
On Thursday, Patton (3-7) trailed 4-3 after a quarter, but took control from there to lead 17-7 at halftime and 21-12 after three periods before closing out the contest with a 10-4 fourth quarter to win by 15 points.
The Lady Panthers’ scoring came from Mia Chapman (eight points), Karson Pinkerton (seven), Leah Clark (five), Hayden Hein (four), Aniya Williams (four) and Melina Bernabe (two).
Zoe McElyea paced West Caldwell with six points.

The Lady Wildcats (3-4) earned their second win in three opportunities with a nonconference victory on the road at R-S Central on Wednesday evening.
The win marked a season sweep of the Lady Hilltoppers after the Lady Wildcats also were victorious in Valdese, 52-37 on Nov. 26.
DHS led wire-to-wire, going up 12-11 after the first quarter, 30-20 by halftime and 41-24 after three periods before closing out the 26-point win with a 17-8 final quarter.
Draughn’s double-digit scorers were Mati Kincaid (13 points), Kenley Berry (12) and Jacey Davis (12). Taylor Holder (nine points), Bailey Winkler (seven), Makenzie Powell (three) and Lindsey Hensley (two) did the rest of the scoring.
Lai Flack scored 22 of the Lady Hilltoppers’ 32 points.
BOYS
West Caldwell 72, Patton 63
The Panthers (2-8) were handed a nonconference loss at home in ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ on Thursday night, marking a season sweep at the hands of the Warriors after a 66-58 loss on the road in Gamewell on Nov. 15.
The game was tied 10-10 after a quarter before West Caldwell led 30-24 at halftime, then the contest was knotted up again 43-43 after three periods. The Warriors gained the advantage down the stretch with a 29-20 fourth frame.
PHS’ scoring leaders were Cayden Roscoe (14 points), Olando Norman (13) and Nathan Waters (13). Also adding to the total were Louie Skelly (eight points), Cohen Christian (six), Jackson Griffin (three), Landry Duvall (two), Karson Kress (two) and Kyle Taylor (two).
West Caldwell had a trio in double figures, including Jay Maxwell (21 points), Kaydin Dixon (20) and Bryson Edmisten (12).
R-S Central 61, Draughn 48
The Wildcats (1-6) had their current skid extended to four games with a nonconference loss on the road in Rutherfordton on Wednesday, settling for a season split with the Hilltoppers after winning 74-64 in Valdese on Nov. 26.
In Wednesday’s loss, DHS’ deficit was 15-9 after a quarter, 24-22 after a half and 43-34 following the third period before R-S Central capped off the 13-point win with a 16-14 advantage in the fourth frame.
Kayden Lytle led Draughn with 22 points. Additional scoring came from Cayden Lewis (eight points), Blair Cooper (seven), Connor Houston (seven) and Henry Cooper (four).
The Hilltoppers had a trio finish in double figures, including Jaden Watkins (17 points), Chandler Crocker (13) and Saynt Wilkins (10).
