DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — For the second straight year, Burke County racecar driver Landon S. Huffman had the opportunity to participate in the ARCA Menards Series’ preseason test at Daytona International Speedway.
A native of Connelly Springs, Huffman was one of 77 drivers entered for the two-day test, which took place Thursday and Friday on the high banks of the 2½-mile tri-oval, which will host the season-opening Daytona ARCA 200 next month on Feb. 15.
Just as last year, Huffman was entered in the test to drive Pinnacle Racing Group’s No. 28 Chevrolet. Huffman, an 18-year-old senior at East Burke High School, drives late models for Pinnacle and his father, Shane Huffman, runs the team’s ARCA program.
Huffman was one of two drivers entered in the No. 28 alongside Brenden Queen, who will drive the entry fulltime in 2025 following a highly successful tenure as a CARS Tour and late model driver and a handful of starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

He will drive that car for the team at Daytona in preparation for his inaugural attempt in the NASCAR Cup Series as he seeks to qualify Trackhouse Racing’s No. 91 Chevrolet into the Daytona 500 on Feb. 16.
Other notable entrants for the test included Rev Racing’s Lanie Buice, Eloy Sebastian (No. 2 Chevrolet) and Lavar Scott (No. 6 Chevrolet); Venturini Motorsports’ Chase Pinsonneault (No. 15 Toyota), Lawless Alan (No. 20 Toyota), Jake Finch (No. 25 Toyota), Treyten Lapcevich and Isabella Robusto (No. 55 Toyota); Joe Gibbs Racing’s Brent Crews, Giovanni Ruggiero and William Sawalich (No. 18 Toyota); and Spire Motorsports’ Corey Day (No. 77 Chevrolet).
