Joe Luey Fulbright, 88, of Connelly Springs, was trying to turn left from a private driveway onto Rhodhiss Road near Monteith Lane when he turned into the path of a 2007 Dodge Dakota, according to information from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. 

Fulbright was flown to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte where he died, the highway patrol said. 

The driver of the Dakota was treated by EMS for minor injuries at the scene.

Impairment and speed are not believed to be contributing factors in the crash. No charges will be filed in this case, according to the highway patrol.
