Sharonda Priester’s new school record time of 54.50 in the 400-meters highlighted a strong showing for ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ track and field teams at the Vertklasse Invite in High Point last weekend.
It was the seventh-best time in Division II. She also ran a top-10 400-meter hurdle time this season.
At the meet, she finished well in the 200-meter, taking ninth with a new personal best time of 24.37.
Zanetta Udo-Obong set a new personal best of 11.99 in the 100-meter dash for a fourth-place finish. Molly McGrath was two spots behind her at 12.01. It was also a new personal best.
On the men’s side, Marcus Crumpler took sixth in the 400-meter with a time of 47.89. The field events were led by a seventh-place finish in the long jump from Kahlil West (22-10.00) and an eighth place mark in the hammer throw from Harrison Waddell (165-11.00).
The ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ baseball team broke the school’s single season program record with their 83rd home run of the year against Mars Hill on Saturday.
The Bears broke the record in the 36th game of the season.
Nathan Keeter tied the record in the third inning and Eli Willen broke the record to lead off the sixth inning of the first game. Cole Stanford and Joseph Mozingo added home runs later in the inning as LR cruised to a 14-2 win in the first game.
In the night cap, LR used a five-run fourth inning to storm out to a 7-2 lead. Cole Stanford added another homer as the Bears completed the sweep with a 9-3 win. LR is now 31-6, 16-5 in conference play.
LR softball overpowers Limestone
Lani Warren hit four homeruns on Saturday for LR softball. In a doubleheader against Limestone, she went 5-for-10 and knocked four over the fence to drive in eight RBIs. She led the Bears to a sweep of Limestone 9-4 and 13-8.
Cassidy Wall and Alexandria Gray also hit home runs for the Bears in both games and Maddison Primm added a deep shot in game two for nine homers across the two games.
Faith Carrigan pitched a complete game for the Bears in game one. She then pitched two relief innings in game two, giving up one hit and striking out three.
