The Ollie’s Bargain Outlet has plans to be reopened later this year.
Ollie’s, located at 913 W. Union St. in the Mimosa Hills Shopping Center, has been closed since Hurricane Helene flooded the shopping center.
Ollie's received approval on Dec. 9 for a building permit to renovate and rebuild the location. The permit calls for new walls, ceiling, insulation, plumbing fixtures and repairing the electrical, with a construction value of $120,000.
Tom Kuypers, senior vice president of marketing and advertising for Ollie’s, said the company believes the store will be ready to open after Memorial Day. Memorial Day this year is May 26.
“It’s hard to be more specific, as construction has many potential delays, but we will be opening as soon as possible to continue to serve the community,†Kuypers said. Â

¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥'s Ingle’s Market also received a building permit on Dec. 11 for its ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Carbon City Road store for renovations after flooding from Hurricane Helene. The company decided to remodel the store.Â
The ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Ingles location target date to reopen is March 25, Store Manager Keith Flynn has said.
The ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ store is one of four across the company that was forced to close due to damage from the hurricane. The other three locations are Swannanoa, Newland and Spruce Pine.
The River Village shopping center got building permits Dec. 19 for storm damage interior up-fit for multiple buildings in the shopping center, including for the Town Tavern restaurant space at 315 Sanford Drive, with a construction value of $322,426.Â
Dollar General at 903 W. Union St. at Mimosa Hills shopping center received building and electrical permits on Dec. 23 and Dec. 31 for an interior renovation. Tobacco & Vape in the same shopping center received a building permit on Dec. 31 for fixing storm damage, with a construction value of $70,621. A vacant shop in the shopping center also received a building permit on the same date for the same reason.
Alray Tires, located at 226 Carbon City Road, was issued a building permit on Dec. 3 for a demo, up-fit and re-roofing. The construction value on it is $386,000.Â
Other permits
Village Inn Pizza, received a plumbing permit on Dec. 2 for a new location at 125 Bush Drive., which is across from Cracker Barrel in ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥. The Village Inn Pizza in ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ is currently located on Burkemont Avenue. The city first approved a building permit for the new location in July 2024.
County deeds show that Ray Lackey Enterprises, the owner of the Village Pizza, purchased the property in August 2023 from IDE Properties LLC for about $395,000.
The restaurant space at 139 W. Union St. in ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥, the former Root and Vine location, received a building permit on Dec. 23 to remove and reinstall flooring, with a construction value of $20,000. The owner also received a plumbing permit on Dec. 31 to run water drain lines for items such as an ice maker and tankless water heater, with a construction value of $25,494.
The Madness, a sushi and burger restaurant with locations in North Asheville and Candler, has plans to open at the location.
Walmart Neighborhood Market at 1001 N. Green St., received electrical permits on Dec. 9 to replace checkouts, remodel the break room, create a new grocery pick-up area and remodel the pharmacy. The value of the work is $310,000, according to the permit.
